U-SMPS System

Determination of the particle size distribution of ultrafine aerosols from 4 nm to 1.2 µm

Universal scanning mobility particle sizer for various applications (4 – 440 nm)
Universal scanning mobility particle sizer for high concentrations of 2 – 400 nm
Universal scanning mobility particle sizer for various applications (8 – 1200 nm)
Universal scanning mobility particle sizer for high concentrations of 8 – 1200 nm
The U-SMPS series comprises a DEMC particle classifier, with which a monodisperse particle fraction is obtained from a polydisperse aerosol, depending on the applied voltage. The number concentration is determined with a particle counter. Prof. Wiedensohler (IfT Leipzig, Germany) developed the algorithm used by Palas® for the inversion of the measured data to yield the particle size distribution.

The U-SMPS system can measure concentrations of up to 108 particles/cm3. The U-SMPS system is equipped with a continuous and fast-scanning principle of measurement and both up and down. Palas® is the first manufacturer in the world to develop and incorporate this up-and-down scan mode. The U-SMPS system universally supports other manufacturers' DMAs, CPCs, and aerosol electrometers. It can connect to other computers or networks using various interfaces (USB, LAN, WLAN, RS-232/485).

The U-SMPS system is successfully used in practice due to its special advantages.
